Bowery Electric – ‘ Freedom Fighter’ (2000)

Bowery Electric ‘s 2000 album, Lushlife, is reissued by Beggar’s Arkive this Friday, on 180g vinyl (order here), mastered by John Davis at Metropolis. The album, the band’s third and final release, expanded on a previously quite minimalist sound, adding strings, giving more prominence to Martha Schwendener’s lyrics, and, on single Freedom Fighter, sampling Nick Drake‘s Introduction.

I was a fan at the time, and Kid Vinyl’s predecessor, a paper fanzine called The Ballroom Dalek, had published a short e-mail Q&A with Lawrence Chandler at about the time they started working on Lushlife. Here then, from July 1998, is that:
