Hello folks, it’s springtime: hurrah! The air is blossom-scented and sweet and the humdrum of the winter is at an end. So, did anyone get a newspaper from Thom Yorke this week? No, nor did we. Anyway, I digress, I do that a lot…here are a few things I would like to share with you on this perfectly lovely eve!
First up, scottish indie-rockers Sons & Daughters have announced details of their album, the first since 2008’s The Gift. Mirror, Mirror will be released on June 13 on Domino records. They’ve been working with Depeche Mode’s producer, and I think if this song is anything to go by, the influence has rubbed of. It’s sparse, eerie and quite moody.
F***ked Up – new record and tour dates
Toronto-based, rudely- monikered punks F***ked Up release David Comes To Life on June 6th also on Domino. Announcing that the album will contain 18 tracks and play for 78 minutes (sweary they might be, but at least they’re precise!) That’s a whole lot of succinct anger! Sample the ‘The Other Shoe’ here

Thurston Moore once wore t shirt in a Sonic Youth video proclaiming ‘I am not Beck’. It’s true enough, but he’s been working with him on the forthcoming record Demolished Thoughts . If ‘Benediction’ is anything to go by, it’s going to be wondrous, along with the new Low offering, this is the loveliest track I’ve heard in ages. It’s stripped back, folk-tinged and swathed in the kind of string arrangement the late Robert Kirby might have tipped his hat to. But sure, go on judge for yourself.
