1967 classic The Velvet Underground and Nico turns 45 this year, and in celebration Universal/ Polydor are releasing a 6-disc set special edition on October 30th. The box set will feature a previously unavailable 1966 live concert performed by the Velvets’ original, five-person lineup — Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison, Moe Tucker and Nico — at the Valleydale Ballroom in Columbus, Ohio, and Nico’s Chelsea Girl, an album released in October 1967 which featured all the members of the band as well as a teenage Jackson Browne. The mono version of The Velvet Underground and Nico is also included. The remastering is by Bill Levenson at Sterling Sound Studios in New York City.
